Below are some questions we have been asked about GradsKent by employers that have approached us:
Why is Kent County Council supporting a project like this?
In the current economic climate graduates are finding it increasingly difficult to secure employment and often relocate to areas where there are more work opportunities and a wider range of jobs. In the past KCC has set up schemes and programmes to counteract this issue as they are keen on retaining as many graduates in the county as possible. The Council understands that graduates are a valuable asset to any business, and graduates play a key role in the county’s future socio-economical sustainability.
What are the benefits of recruiting online through GradsKent?
GradsKent has a registered pool of candidates actively seeking work in all sectors and locations across Kent. Other websites may allow you to advertise your vacancy as a graduate opportunity, but GradsKent is the only site that allows you to advertise directly and exclusively to the local graduate market. We work closely with universities in Kent and nationwide to ensure that the number of candidates on GradsKent is continuously growing, and you can be certain that they will all be looking for work in your area. We also have registered gap-year students and those seeking years in industry, as well as graduates who have extensive workplace experience.
Employers can manage their account online whenever it suits them so recruitment doesn’t need to put on hold your business needs and activities. Once you’ve input the job details and requirements the job goes live instantly and graduates can start applying for your vacancy within minutes. The whole process is quick and easy- no paperwork, no fuss.
Online recruiting also enables smaller businesses to compete like bigger businesses, as all adverts are given the same space and have the same chance of being noticed by candidates, either when browsing or searching for jobs. Also, recruitment websites have lower overheads than print media and recruitment agencies, so it makes business sense to use us.
With your personal log in details, you can view candidates that have applied to your job and close the advert when you’re ready to short-list for interview. It couldn’t be simpler!
Why would my organisation benefit from using GradsKent.com over other recruitment agencies in Kent?
Setting up GradsKent has created an online graduate portal that the county has never experienced before enabling Kent organisations to gain immediate access to a portfolio of high calibre and exuberant talent. If this level of candidates is what your business is crying out for then GradsKent.com is the website for you!
Our rates of advertising and service are competitive as our main priority is helping graduates gain experience and skills through employment and businesses to benefit from a fresh face with talent.
What type of salary should I consider paying new graduate employees?
It does very much depend on what type of work and responsibilities they’re expected to fulfil. Take some time to have a think about what exactly you would like the person to do on their job and what type and level of qualification is necessary for them to carry out their responsibilities. Summarising this into a concise and clear job description and person specification is the next step but, if you would like to discuss this further then please get in touch with the GradsKent Team on 01622 696242 and we’ll be happy to help. Also, you may wish to take a look at www.businesslink.gov.uk for some advice and guidance on this topic and others for your business.
What do I do if I can’t make payments online?
Not to worry, we can set up an invoice for you to make a payment. Just select this option when you upload your job and we will be in touch soon.
I’m having difficulty uploading a vacancy. What do I do?
If you’re having trouble uploading a vacancy or are finding it difficult following the on-screen instructions, then please do not hesitate to contact the GradsKent Team on 01622 696242 or GradsKent@kent.gov.uk.
I need to edit my uploaded vacancy but it's locked. Can I no longer edit the details?
Yes, you can still edit it but you'll need to ring the GradsKent Team who will be able to do it for you.
